Picasa for linux.

There has been a lot of fuss about Google releasing Picasa for linux. To tell the truth, I'm hardly interested, since I have very few photos to manage, but I might to some considerations (always better than revising math!).

There are other opensource solutions, that are pretty good, and are actively developed and improved. Like digikam: Picasa has not been ported to linux, it has been ported to WINE. That is to say, every Windows API that Picasa uses is translated by WINE in a linux equivalent.

In "porting" it they sent tons of patches to the WINE project, and this is good. But why shall I use a closed source software when we have digikam (and others)? In fact they say that Picasa is better, and more user friendly. It might be, but fortunately enough, I don't need all this user-friendliness. :-)
